As the new year approaches, you’re probably inundated with goal-setting advice. But let’s get real… Your goals don’t actually matter. What matters are the actions you take to achieve them.

Goals alone won’t get you where you want to go. Talking about them, dreaming about them, and even writing them down won’t bring results unless you back them up with action.

This was a lesson I learned firsthand when I decided to launch my planner.

For years, I’d been talking about creating a planner. I dreamed about it, envisioned it on store shelves, and even set goals around it. But nothing happened…

Until I finally took action.

In late October, I set a hard deadline to launch by Black Friday. Despite doubts and challenges, I made it happen.

The result? My planner exceeded all my expectations.

Mindset is Everything

Before you can set meaningful goals, you have to shift your mindset. Your thoughts, emotions, and actions create your results.

Here are the “5 Cs” that might be blocking your success:

  1. Constraints on Time: Think you don’t have enough time? It’s about prioritizing and managing the 24 hours we all have.

  2. Capability: Feel like you’re not smart or skilled enough? Remember, everything is figureoutable.

  3. Confusion: Unclear on your goal or how to achieve it? Get clarity by reflecting on what truly matters to you.

  4. Cash: Financial concerns are real, but don’t let them stop you. Look for creative solutions to fund your dreams.

  5. Commitment: Lack of commitment will hold you back more than anything else.

Setting Challenging Goals

When setting goals, use the SMART framework (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-based). But don’t stop there – make sure your goals are challenging. Stretch yourself, but don’t set yourself up for failure.

For example, instead of aiming for a "safe" number of members in our Magnify Your Content™ membership, we set a bold goal of 1,000 members by the end of 2025. It’s ambitious but achievable with the right action steps.

Action Over Everything

Once you’ve set your goals, brain dump every action step needed to achieve them. Then, focus on consistent, intentional action. Let go of the timeline and embrace the journey.

Success isn’t about hitting the goal – it’s about the person you become along the way!

You’ve got this!
