keeping my energy up {product review}

Life has been completely crazy lately.  I am one of those people who when things gets overwhelming, I get stressed and shut down.  This has been one of those weeks.  Between triathlon training, volleyball camp, and our many home improvement projects preparing our house to sell, there just hasn’t been enough time in the day to get everything done.

Take Monday for example.  I woke up at 5 AM to get my CrossFit workout and run in, take care of Kenna and clean the house, shower, took Kenna to the doctor (she has another freaking virus that is effecting her eye – luckily, it’s just blood shot), ran a ton of errands, came home to feed Kenna and put her down for a nap, left for volleyball camp to pick up the shirts, meet with our athletic director, get everything ready for camp, coach for 3 hours, clean up from camp, came home and started painting our bathroom, and finally got into bed right around midnight.  The only time I was sitting all day was in the car.  I even totally missed dinner in there, which left me in a really bad mood that of course was taken out on Matt.

Funny Family Ecard: Hangry: A state of anger caused by lack of food; hunger causing a negative change in emotional state. Translation: Feed me or I'll CUT YOU!!

While I’m still mentally and physically exhausted by the end of the day, I still feel like I  have energy to keep going.  Thanks in part to Designer Whey’s new Sustained Energy protein powder.

I’m still drinking my daily green smoothie for breakfast and even with having to skip some meals, the new Sustained Energy smoothie has been keeping me full and keeping my energy up.  Even my runs have been better this week because of the extra energy I’m getting from my smoothies.

I’ve been using both their Vanilla Bean and Chocolate Velvet sustained energy protein powders, and while both are creamy and taste delicious, I am partial to the chocolate.  Especially when blended with some peanut butter for an extra dose of healthy fats.  Seriously.  I don’t think it can get much better than a Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup smoothie for breakfast.

Chocolate PB Smoothie

Chocolate Peanut Butter Green Smoothie
Makes 1 smoothie.

1 banana
1 tablespoon peanut butter (White Chocolate Wonderful tastes great, but any PB works)
1 tablespoon chia, hemp, or flax seeds
1/2 to 1 cup milk
1 scoop Designer Whey Sustained Energy powder in Chocolate Velvet
1 large handful of spinach

Put everything together into a blender and blend until smooth.  Enjoy!

Not a bad way to start your day, huh? Plus, some extra energy to keep me going and you really can’t go wrong.

How do you keep your energy up during the day?  Anyone else get HANGRY if they go too long without a meal?
