mother's day

I don't know about you, but I had a really fantastic Mother's Day!  I feel like this Mother's Day was even more special just because I now have 2 reasons to celebrate! My day started about as good as it can get - with a 6 mile run!  Most moms - especially a mom of an infant - would want to sleep in on Mother's Day.  Instead, I set my alarm early to get my long run in before the kids got up.  And I was pleasantly surprised to come home to Kenna in our bed and Miles still asleep in his crib.IMG_1676I woke up and fed Miles, got ready, went to church, came home, fed Miles, and then headed out to the wineries in Augusta for a picnic with Matt's family.  I love this Mother's Day tradition with them and was thankful that I actually got to partake this year.  Last year, I was 7 weeks pregnant and just kept switching out Matt's empty wine glass with my full one!  Ha!We had a smorgasbord of food that was absolutely delicious.  I love snacky meals, especially when they include lots of veggies and carbs.  The beer bread I made ended up being awesome, and I helped myself to more than a few handfuls of chocolate and yogurt covered pretzels.  The wine was great too - I had a glass of dry white, one of sweet white, and a glass of Norton.IMG_1677We left the wineries and got home just before the clouds moved in and it started raining.  We got cleaned up, fed Miles again, and then headed downtown to Ballpark Village for dinner with my family at Cardinals Nation.I've only been to BPV once - on opening day last year - and it was packed.  It was nice to be there after the crowds were gone (there was a game earlier in the day, so we were able to avoid the crowds by going in the evening) and really take it all in.  We were seated at a table with perfect views of the stadium. We started with some pretzel bites with cheese to start, which were soooo good!  I decided on the smoked salmon wrap (sans bacon) with French fries and an Abita Purple Haze to drink.  The wrap reminded me a lot of a sushi roll with avocado, but I felt it was missing something without the bacon.  It definitely needed some salt or something crunchy to really round out the flavors.IMG_1687We also got some great family pictures in right outside the stadium after the rain stopped.  Love my 2 kiddos so much!IMG_1703IMG_1713IMG_1732We finished the night by stopping by the Fudgery for some self-serve frozen custard!  I've only had self-serve frozen yogurt so I was pumped that they had frozen custard.  I was starting to feel pretty full, so I stuck with a little swirl of chocolate and vanilla with sprinkles, chocolate chips, puppy chow, and chocolate covered Rice Krispies.  It definitely hit the spot!IMG_1729It was a perfect Mother's Day!  It wasn't about the gifts (which I did get a few - including a name ring for Miles that matches my MacKenna ring), but about spending time with the people I love the most.  Matt did a wonderful job making sure that I felt special and loved on Mother's Day.  I'm very thankful for my wonderful husband and my 2 babies for making me a mom!IMG_1683IMG_1686And speaking of Mother's Day, I am thrilled to partner with For Two Fitness for an amazing post-Mother’s Day giveaway.
