Baby Boy: 2 Months
Miles turned 2 months this past Sunday and he is growing like a weed! I absolutely LOVE these next few months because they learn so many new things and become so much more interactive! He is such a good baby and I am absolutely LOVING being a boy mom!EatingBreastfeeding is still going really well. I know I talked a few weeks ago about how gassy he had been. After doing some research (ahem, googling), I think I might actually have an overactive letdown and oversupply issue. I'm still not sure about the oversupply thing, but a lot of the signs he was showing has me pretty convinced that my letdown was causing him to get too much foremilk and not enough of the nutrient-dense hindmilk. So, I started feeding him on just one side at each feeding. And guess what? He's doing soooo much better! He's not nearly as gassy and is sleeping so much better! He eats every 3 hours during the day and can go about 4 to 5 hours at night before he needs to eat again. He takes a bottle every once in awhile - mostly when I'm not around - and takes about 4 ounces now. He takes a bottle like a champ too!SleepingWe moved Miles to his crib a little over a week ago in preparation for me going back to work. It's amazing how much better ALL of us have been sleeping since making this move! We put him to bed right after we put Kenna to bed, which is around 8 or 8:30 and then I usually wake him up between 10 and 10:30 to change is diaper and feed him one more time. (He did go one night without the dreamfeed - I just couldn't get him to wake up - and ended up sleeping until his normal middle-of-the-night wakeup. So I might drop that soon, but I'm not sure either of us are ready for that yet.) He wakes up between 2:30 and 3 to eat and then sleeps until around 5:30, which will be much more manageable when I go back to work since that's when I will be feeding him before leaving for work. But now, I usually just hold him until we actually get up around 6:30 AM. I would love for him to just magically start sleeping through the night, but I don't think that's going to happen any time soon. I'm just going to have to deal with being sleep deprived when I go back to work.Normally, he will sleep really well until those times (I can hold him for about a minute at bed time and put him down with his eyes open and he'll go to sleep!), but other nights - like a few nights ago - I have to go in his room several times to stick the paci back in his mouth. He usually sleeps until the sleep sheep turns off and then I have to go back in there again. This is usually between 3:30 and 5:30 AM, and by 5:30 I just give up. Again, hoping that he does better once I go back to work, but again, sleep deprivation is going to be the norm for a little while. I think I can make it the next few months until school is out for the year...PersonalityMiles is still developing his little personality. He is a very happy baby and absolutely LOVES when people talk to him. He will just stare at you and smile the biggest smile. I absolutely love it! I don't think he will be as vocal as his big sister, but I think he will be a talker too. I love his coos and can't wait to hear more from him!Big SisterI cannot believe how good of a big sister MacKenna is! She absolutely LOVES her little brother! Any time I have my hands full and he is screaming, she goes and pats him and tries to put the pacifier back in his mouth. She loves to give him hugs and I really have to watch her now because she wants to lay on him all the time. She kisses him at bed time and wants to help me give him baths and change his diaper. She is going to be a great helper at the babysitter and I think she will be a little overprotective for a little while.Other StuffWeight: We went to the doctor on Monday and he weighs 10 pounds 14 ounces, which is up from the 10 lbs 1 oz at his 1 month (6 lbs 11 oz at birth). So, he's slowed down a little bit, but still growing! He's in the 16th percentile for weight, which is still bigger than what Kenna was at 2 months.Diapers: We are in the regular cloth diapers now on the smallest size all day and then switch to disposables at night. The cloth just don't hold enough for him to last through the night in them. Kenna will be out of her night time cloth diapers soon (YAY!) so I will start using the hemp inserts with him at night soon. He's in size 1s in the disposables still.Clothes: He is in all 0-3 and 3 month clothes now and a few very snug newborn outfits.Likes: Eating, being held, sucking (he is trying to find his thumb), being talked to, spending time with Mommy, Daddy, and MacKenna, the mirror on his playmatDislikes: Naptimes (not the actual sleeping part but the going to sleep part), being overtired, not being the center of attention - I'm reaching here, he's a really good baby and doesn't have too many dislikes!Firsts: His baptism, full day with daddy, smiling & laughing, rolling over from tummy to back, shots
