OUR SUMMER BUCKET LIST 2021

STRUGGLING TO FIND TIME TO BE A MOM, WORK FULL TIME, AND BUILD A BUSINESS FROM HOME? I’VE GOT YOU, GIRLFRIEND! GRAB MY FREE PRODUCTIVITY PLANNER AND LET’S FIND AN EXTRA HOUR OR 2 IN YOUR DAY!

We are officially 2 weeks into summer break at this point, and let’s just say, this summer has had a different start - even compared to last year.

If you haven’t heard, 2 days into our summer break, and one of the kiddos broke her foot. *womp womp* While it’s definitely not the best way to start our summer - and has made it a little more interesting to navigate summer activities - she’s a trooper and has been handling it well.

Now that we are all on summer break (as a work-at-home mom, I definitely don’t have the summer’s off anymore like I did as a teacher, but at least I have the flexibility in my day to enjoy as much time with them as I can + want), it’s time to start thinking about all the things we want to do this summer - and really, how to keep these 2 occupied so they’re not spending all day on their iPads or in front of the TV.

While our summer looked a little different last year (and we did have to cancel a few trips we had planned), we are thankful we still were able to travel + enjoy the summer as much as possible. We don’t feel like we need to make up for anything we might have missed last year, but that’s not going to stop us from wanting to do some things that we didn’t get to do last summer!

Namely, GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!

OK, so we weren’t planning a Disney World trip last year, but we did have a Disney Cruise with my family planned that we had to cancel/postpone. And after talking with all the adults, we decided that we would rather spend our week vacation at Disney World instead of going on a cruise.

So, guess who’s heading to Disney World TODAY?!

But, outside of our fun trip, we have lots of other things we want to cross off our “Summer Bucket List” this summer…

Go to Disney World

Obviously, we are doing this no matter what (and spent this past weekend finishing up planning for it)! We’ve done Disneyland A LOT, so I can’t wait to introduce the kids (+ Matt) to the other Disney! Oh, and a much-needed VACATION without bringing my laptop along with me for the first time in 4 years!

Go to a “new-to-us” waterpark + go down a waterslide

Yup, lumping these 2 together. The public pools are opening back up this summer and the kids are finally tall enough to ride the waterslides! I’m not a waterslide fan (or slide fan in general), but MacKenna just went down one for the first time and loved it, so I figure I need to do something that scares me too! And thankfully, she’ll only be in a boot for a few weeks and will be able to enjoy the pools fully again soon!

Pick strawberries (and/or peaches)

One of my favorite summer activities that we try to do every single year!

Eat dinner outside on the patio as a family

I just got some lights put up out on the patio and I can’t wait to enjoy a night out there with the kiddos - and probably a few nights outside talking with Matt too.

Go to Six Flags + ride an upside-down rollercoaster

We bought season passes last year and had so much fun! Can’t wait to go back again this summer - and have MacKenna ride her first upside-down rollercoaster! I mean, not that it’s the best one there, but you have to start somewhere!

Play in the creek in Branson

We found this awesome creek last year and I can’t wait to go back with chairs + a cooler to play in the creek! We actually watched someone get baptized there last year! Such a fun experience!

Go tubing in the lake

Thankful for family members that invite us to play on their boat! Definitely planning on getting some tubing this summer!

See the dinosaurs at the zoo

We love our zoo and they just opened a dinosaur experience not too long ago! Of course, I’d rather watch the cheetahs and bears, but as much as Miles loves dinosaurs, this will be fun!

Feed the goats at Grant’s Farm

Grant’s Farm is FINALLY opening up to the public again - and we can’t wait to feed the goats! Oh, and free beer too...

Participate in the summer reading program at the library

And remember to actually check in the books that we read… so far, we’ve not been great at checking them in, but they’re doing a great job actually getting their reading in every day so far.

Have a water balloon // water gun fight

St. Louis summer’s are HOT - and we have zero trees in our backyard with FULL afternoon sun, so if we’re spending time outside, there needs to be some sort of water activity involved. And nothing sounds more fun than getting soaked with the kids!

Take a random road trip

I don’t know… it just sounds fun! We typically visit a new place when we’re headed to or from the beach, but no beach plans this year, so why not take a day trip to someplace new (and maybe visit a brewery or 2 while we’re there)...

Make homemade ice cream and/or slushies

It’s that time of year again to bust out the ice cream + slushy maker!

Have a “Gift Card Day”

We’ve been wanting to do this for a few summers now. We have a ton of gift cards to restaurants and places that we just never seem to use. So, we decided we would have a Gift Card Day and use as many of them as we can in one sitting!

Start a “garden”

OK, so technically it’s already started, but we haven’t planted it all outside yet. Can’t wait to have some of our own veggies + herbs that we’ve grown ourselves!
