not in the mood

When my alarm went off at 6 AM this morning, I had every intention to run.  However, after doing a short little run with Matt on Wednesday – my rest day – I decided to give my legs a little break from the concrete and went back to bed for an extra hour of sleep.

I don’t know what it is, but there’s something about posting about my strength training routines that make me want to change them!  It’s like, as soon as I click ‘Publish’, I no longer want to do my planned strength training routine.  Seriously, I don’t know what my deal is, but it took everything in my power to get up and go to the gym to lift this morning.  Sure, I could’ve skipped it, but 2 days of upper body and only 1 of lower body just didn’t seem right.

So, I dragged my lazy butt to the gym and got in a torturous leg session.

  • Dumbbell Squats 3x12, 20# each hand
  • Single Leg Deadlifts 3x12 each leg, 15# dumbbell
  • Stationary Split Squats 3x15 each leg, 15# each hand
  • Sumo Squats 3x15, 20# each hand
  • Hamstring Curls 3x15, 30#
  • Planks 2x45 seconds (I was NOT feeling these today)
  • Goodmornings 3x10, 10# medicine ball

I probably didn’t push myself as hard as I should have, but I got in there and got it done.  I’m sure it surprises some of you (specifically friends and family) that I’m not always in the mood to workout, but sometimes, I’m just not.

But, I do have a “race” tomorrow that I’m running.  Well, it’s actually it’s a run for nothing – literally!  Tomorrow is the 1st annual Run for Nothing 5K held at Legacy Park in Cottleville.  It’s a fundraiser event for the Francis Howell Central Cross Country team – it costs nothing to come out and run, although donations are graciously accepted.  I obviously don’t plan on racing it, but it’ll be nice to get a run in with a group of people early on a Saturday morning.

I’m sorry there is not custard this week.  With Matt being gone every night this week and having family plans tonight, it just wasn’t meant to be this week.  And I think it was a bit of overkill with getting frozen custard twice in Kansas City and then Fro Yo last Friday night.  I’m sure I’ll find some place to get some this weekend though!

Have a great weekend and Happy Father’s Day to my wonderful Daddy and (soon-to-be father) husband and all the other dad’s out there!
