happenings
Its’ been a crazy 2 or 3 weeks over here. Let me get you all caught up…
School
The new job is going really well! It’s been quite an adjustment and A LOT of work, but I’m really enjoying it. I love the people I work with, my principals are very supportive of their teachers, and the kids (for the most part) are really great. I have one class that I know will be really challenging, but 1 out of 6 classes is pretty good.
I’m currently busy writing lessons and planning out my curriculum for my Exercise + Fitness class. I’m really hoping these 8th graders out of it what I want them to. I’m planning it piece by piece right now and adjusting as I go, because I’m not sure everything is going to work, but hopefully it does! I’m excited about it!
My desk in my office. We luckily took care of the ant problem, blech.
Volleyball
While we haven’t had a single game yet (first game is tonight!), volleyball is keeping me busy. I absolutely love my girls – they work hard and have been pretty accepting of all the changes I have made for them this year. Most of them have been playing together since 7th grade and I’ve changed their positions entirely. But, they’re handling it well, and we’ll see how well it works tonight! I’m ready to get some games under our belt!
Flowers from Matt for my first day of teaching!
Running
Oh, running. Running is definitely not getting the time + attention I would love to devote to it right now, but being busy with the above things and coming down with a pretty nasty sinus infection the past week and a half or so, running has been put on the back burner. I’ve averaged about 12 miles per week the past few weeks – half of my normal weekly mileage. I’m still trying to fit it in, but right now, it just can’t be a priority.
I have been trying to make Bootcamp more of a priority than running. I have about 40-50 minutes each day to work out, just enough to fit in bootcamp or a good run, but not both. But, I’m still loving bootcamp and have only missed one workout due to being sick. (I actually went to the gym, did 2 sets, decided I felt awful, and went home and slept for an extra 30 minutes.)
MacKenna
So, MacKenna has decided that now that Mommy’s back to work, she’d start doing all these cool things we’ve been trying to get her to do all summer. Just in the past few weeks since going back to work, she’s learned how to wave, pull herself up, climb on everything + everyone, and is now officially cutting her first tooth. I’m having trouble keeping up with her development! But, she’s been handling everything really well. She’s such a good baby!
We had to move down her bed last week. I might have shed a tear. Why must they grow so fast?!
Unfortunately, I don’t nearly get enough time with her. I’m going to write about this more later this week (ha, hopefully!), but my time to spend with her is definitely more quality than quantity right now. Thank goodness for the weekends! I am trying to enjoy every second I get with her since I don’t get nearly as much time with her as I would like!
So, that’s what’s happening in my life right now. I’ve missed blogging (writing + reading) a lot. What have you been up to? Anything I’ve missed in the past few weeks in your life or on your blog?
