#gostl half marathon training: week 11
This past week was a cut back week for me, and it was a much needed cut back. I've been dealing with some shin/ankle pain. More of an annoying pain than anything debilitating, but I know it's there when I'm running. So, it was nice to have some lower mileage days and a few extra days off from running. Plus, I have been absolutely exhausted this past week. Having to wake up early to run is kicking me in the butt - and I still only got up early 3 days this past week. It probably doesn't help that I've been dealing with a cold and some sinus issues for the past week, so again, a few extra days of rest certainly didn't hurt. Those extra days also meant some extra time with the family. With it being the start of spring break (insert Chandler Bing woohoo-ing here), Matt, the kids, and I spent the weekend down in our home away from home: Branson, MO! We left Saturday morning, spent the day in Silver Dollar City, hung out in the cabin for dinner and cuddling, and then went back into SDC Sunday morning before making the drive back home. It was short and sweet, but a much needed break from reality and a great way to kick off spring break.I think I'm finally feeling a little more rested, although I'm still dealing with sinus issues, but not feeling nearly as crummy as I was early in the week.Monday: 30 minute easy run (3.61 miles @ 8:19/mile)5 rounds:Push-Press 12xThrusters 12xTuesday: 6 x 600 w/ 200m recoveries (4.07 miles @ 8:02/mile)Wednesday: 3 mile run split up in half at beginning + end of track practiceThursday: 4 x 1 mile w/ 2 minute-ish walk rest (4.70 miles @ 8:16/mile)3 rounds, 30 seconds each:SquatsTucksLungesPushupsSide SkatersFriday: 3 x 5 x hill w/ 400m recoveries with the track kiddos (2.19 miles @ 8:44/mile)Saturday: OFFSunday: OFFTotal: 18.12 milesMy plan this week is to get some longer runs in during the week since I have the time to do it. I really want to get up to running 30 miles a week consistently, but after the next 3 weeks of training and completing the half, I'm planning on taking a few weeks off with lower mileage. So, 30 mile weeks might just have to wait until this summer. Crazy to think we are so close to the end of the school year. You have no idea how ready I am...
