One of the positive things that came from our time in quarantine?

MacKenna and I started creating some fun videos together!

It all started with her wanting me to teach her how to blow dry her hair. The hubs suggested we record it - because it’s every 8 year old’s dream to be a YouTube start lately - and so we did!

And thus, Mama + MacKenna videos were born!

We share tutorials, recipes, vlogs, and fun challenges. A new one comes out about once per week, depending on our schedule (and creativity for the week).

And because you know I’m SIMPLE and all things health and beauty, I knew I just had to share one of our more popular videos with you!

If you’re looking for a quick and easy hairstyle for the summer - or simply because you’re a mom and just don’t have the time - you will love this! I feel like this actually works better for short hair, but if you have longer hair, this is pretty simple too! Plus, it’s EASY! Like, so easy, an 8 year old can do it!

HOW TO DO A SOCK BUN

What you need: 2 hair ties, a sock or hair donut, hair spray (optional), bobby pins (optional)

>> Find an old tube sock (the longer, the better) and cut off the toe end of it. Roll it up so that it creates a donut. (You can also buy a hair donut on Amazon, but a sock works just as well.)

>> Pull your hair back into a ponytail and secure with a hair tie. This will work for either high or low ponytails.

>> Pull the ponytail through the hole of the donut so that it surrounds the hair tie.

>> Take the hair from the ponytail and cover the sock/donut. Secure with a second hair tie.

>> Spray with hairspray or secure with bobby pins for extra hold if you need it!
