I’ve talked about my morning routine in the past, but something you need to know about why my morning routine is SO crucial to the start of my day…

It’s not just my alone time.
It’s my time for personal development.

Over the past 2.5 years, I have been on a MAJOR personal development kick - mostly thanks to my beauty business partnership (we like to call it a personal development plan with a paycheck). I’ve read more books over the past 2.5 years than I probably have over the last 10 (#truestory).

But, I know that we don’t always have time for reading. With work, family time, chores, etc., by the time the kids go to bed, we can hardly keep our eyes open, let alone open up a book, amiright?!

Enter the morning podcast.

I used to run without listening to anything. Then, Hamilton came into my life and that’s all I listened to for months. Now, every run (except for my Peloton days) has a podcast in my ear.

If you’re not a podcast person, I suggest you try it! My entry to the podcast world was Serial (OMG, I still LOVE that one), but if you want some of my favorites for life + business, well friend, you’re in luck because that’s what I’m giving you today!

The Jasmine Star Show

If you’re in the online business space, this is a MUST! If you don’t know Jasmine Star, she is a master at social media content (which is what I specialize in as a business owner). She is so smart + funny, and you will LOVE her stories.

This podcast is a mix of business + life. She shares her coaching sessions from her Social Curator membership, as well as personal stories about her life. Her episodes are always relevant and inspiring. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll just love her like I do.

That Sounds Fun with Annie F. Downs

If you want to be inspired and laugh a little, you’ll LOVE Annie! Annie F. Downs is an author and heavily involved in Christian ministry. Plus, she’s hilarious! She’s an Enneagram 7, so you know she’s all about having a good time!

Most of her podcasts are interviews with people in the Christian ministry space, but she also mixes in a little life and fun. She just had an entire 5-week series of daily episodes that related to the Coronavirus Pandemic and now has a “spin off” podcast called Annie + Eddie Keep Talking that is just daily life and super fun too.

The Ed Mylett Show

While this is definitely more business-based, Ed Mylett is still one of my absolute FAVORITE podcasts to listen to. On his podcast, he mostly interviews celebrities and other famous people in the business space. His interviews are so inspiring and always leave me with hope about what is to come in the future.

A few of my favorite episodes include his interview with Jenna Kutcher, how to destroy negative thoughts with Trevor Moawad, and High Performance Habits with Brendon Burchard (also one of my FAVORITE books of all time).

Y’all, I’m supposed to see Ed Mylett speak at a conference in September and I simply cannot WAIT! He is by far one of my favorite people to listen to - he’s like a big ol’ teddy bear!

Your Enneagram Coach

This is my NEW favorite podcast because it’s literally BRAND NEW! Beth McCord of Your Enneagram Coach is your go-to for all things Enneagram. If you don’t know your enneagram number, I suggest you take her free test to learn what your number is because it’s truly helped me learn more about myself and how I react to things.

But, if you don’t want to take the free quiz, start with the first show of the podcast. She breaks down what the enneagram is and then goes into each type. She does the show with her husband, so it’s nice to get different perspectives on situations. Plus, there are SEVERAL episodes about parenting. And it’s all from a Christian perspective, which makes me appreciate it even more!

The Jennifer Allwood Show

This is another one of my favorites simply because Jennifer Allwood always speaks to my soul. I don’t know what God has for me, but everytime I listen to her show, it’s always something that has to do with something going on in my life. Every. Single. Time.

I think my favorite episodes are her Monday Fire shows - they’re short + sweet and typically give you some inspiration to start off your week. But, I’ve gotta be honest… she’s not the greatest interviewer. While I enjoy her interviews because she has some really great guests on the show, she tends to interrupt them.

But, given that, her show is so so good and I think you’ll love her fire with a mix of Jesus as well!
