37 THINGS I LEARNED IN MY 37TH YEAR
ARE YOU READY TO MAKE 2021 THE YEAR WHERE YOU GET MORE DONE, ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS, AND STILL HAVE TIME FOR YOUR FAMILY? LET ME HELP YOU GET YOUR TIME BACK WITH MY FREE PRODUCTIVITY PLANNER!
Tomorrow is my 37th birthday… and as I get closer + closer to 40, I feel like I’m learning so much more about MYSELF.
I remember LOVING being 27… I had just had our first child and I felt like I had everything in the world life could ever offer me. Little did I know that my 30s would be a whole new life experience, where I’d go through depression, anxiety, loss, harassment, etc.
I love doing these posts each year, although they’re probably more for me than they are for you. But, it’s a great way for me to reflect on just how far I’ve come year after year.
I know 37 will be another amazing year of life, simply because God continues to let me live out my days on this planet + with the people I’m surrounded with.
THE 37 THINGS I LEARNED IN
MY 37TH YEAR
1. I’ve really stepped into self-discovery, thanks in part to understanding the ins + outs of being an Enneagram 9.
2. It’s OK to not pursue certain goals - no matter how bad you want them, sometimes the timing (or the action behind it) just isn’t right.
3. I’ve learned that my favorite beers are hazy IPAs or milkshake IPAs… and yes, more than stouts, to my husband’s surprise.
4. I am capable of going 40+ days without spending money on unnecessary things.
5. I live for my weekends and RESTING as much as possible. Nothing makes me happier than turning off my computer at the end of a long week..
6. I’ve learned how to set boundaries for myself, especially with clients who drain me.
7. I’m still not great with conflict, but I’m getting MUCH better and realizing that the world won’t end if conflict comes up.
8. An afternoon walk completely unplugged + just in my thoughts is NECESSARY.
9. Sometimes you outgrow your friends, and that’s OK.
10. You are going to let people down - you cannot make everyone happy.
11. Experiences are better than physical things every single day.
12. I can only take so much politics before I need to completely avoid the drama of it.
13. Even if you outgrow certain friendships, you CAN still make new ones.
14. Be willing to ask better and more questions.
15. There is nothing better than sending a card to someone just to make them smile. Customer service goes a long way!
16. I still hate talking on the phone + prefer that you text me because I’m probably busy doing something else + will just ignore your call anyway.
17. Don’t let someone’s opinion of you stop you from being YOU.
18. I actually can control my passive aggressiveness by creating a PLAN and not having specific expectations.
19. It’s OK to say no or stop doing something or even block people to protect your mental health.
20. Once you figure out something that works, STICK TO IT!
21. Flexibility with your schedule + routine is KEY.
22. I cannot stop listening to podcasts - and will do anything for a good true crime one!
23. I love running more for fitness than for competition. Running still plays a BIG part in my life.
24. Understand that change will throw you off a little bit, but you can get right back into it if you choose your priorities correctly.
25. I am getting more comfortable with being UNCOMFORTABLE.
26. Flat white coffees are better than PSLs… yup, I went there.
27. Integrity is important to me, but it doesn’t come naturally. I actually really have to work for it.
28. My family will still remain my top priority and the reason why I continue to do what I do.
29. I still get a lot of anxiety in certain situations, but I have to remind myself of what is TRUE to help myself face it.
30. I’ve officially read through all 4 gospels 4 times in the past year - and I’m so glad I did!
31. Pizza is still my favorite food - and frozen pizza is worth it when my husband isn’t home to make his homemade dough!
32. For the first time in YEARS, I’ve finally controlled my chronic UTIs and feel better than I ever have before!
33. I’m totally obsessed with my skincare routine and actually ENJOY washing my face every night!
34. Not every workout program is going to be right for your goals, but you can still try other things to see how they work.
35. My family will always 100% come first in my life. No exceptions. It’s not always easy, but they are what keep me going.
36. When I get into an overthinking spiral, the only thing I need to ask myself is, “Is it true?” When I find proof that it’s not, I am able to control my thoughts a little more.
37. Find someone you can talk to. Sometimes you need to verbally process and having a coach or counselor help you with that makes all the difference!
