branson anniversary
Matt + I were actually able to spend our anniversary in Branson. I know, I know. We go there A LOT. But, it’s only fair that we go to BOTH of our favorite places for the summer. So, when Matt’s parents asked if we wanted to join them this summer, we couldn’t pass up the chance.
As much as I love relaxing on the beach in Gulf Shores for a week, I do enjoy getting away from home in Branson, and getting to spend time with Matt + his family. Although we did most of the same things we normally do while in Branson (Silver Dollar City, shopping, etc.), we did have a chance to get out on Table Rock Lake for some boating (and tubing for everyone else) and played some put-put golf. (You’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see our multiple visits to Andy’s.)
After playing mini golf. Wait until you see what I looked like at Andy’s…
But, we did have a lovely anniversary in Branson. I started my day with a nice 30 minute run around our “resort”. I seriously want to move down here and be able to enjoy the lake every day. It’s just so beautiful + peaceful early in the morning!
We then decided to go antiquing at some of the old flea markets + antique shops. Amazingly, I found a lamp for the nursery I was looking for and also a birthday present for my SIL (she’ll just have to wait until September to get it).
We were starving from all the walking around we had done, so we hit up Starbucks (Matt has like $50 worth in gift cards from students/athletes). I went for the Orange Mango Smoothie and Matt the Strawberry Smoothie, which weren’t nearly as good as Panera’s, sorry. And we split a mini Red Velvet Whoopie Pie and mini Vanilla Bean Scone, which were both delicious!
We went back and spent the afternoon at the pool with Matt’s dad, trying to figure out how to get in a kayak if you get dumped in the middle of the lake. Not an easy task and both boys ended up extremely sore and bruised! (Needless to say, the kayak only made it into the pool this trip and not the lake.)
Then, it was time to get dolled up to head out for dinner. Since we go to Branson pretty frequently, I subscribe to both Groupon and Living Social for the Springfield area. A few months ago, a Groupon came up for Waxy O’Shea’s Irish Pub on the Branson Landing – someplace we had never been before.
Funny thing happened as we were sitting in the restaurant waiting for our food to arrive. I checked my email on my phone to see an email from Groupon regarding our Waxy O’Shea’s Groupon. It said that they were refunding our money because the restaurant had closed. Um, really? Because I’m pretty sure we were sitting in the restaurant and it was most definitely opened! So weird and ironic… (We discovered that the email was meant for the one in Shawnee, Kansas, NOT the one in Branson… and our money wasn’t being refunded.)
I was so happy to see that not only was there a veggie burger on the menu, but it was a mushroom + Swiss veggie burger! With fries, of course, because my preggo belly craves fried food like crazy! It was delicious!
Matt went for the fish + chips, which looked amazing, and he agreed that it was very good! We will definitely be going back (as long as the stay open)!
It was still fairly early after dinner, so we decided to walk around the river a little + then drive to check out the views of Branson + Table Rock Lake. We were fortunate enough to capture an absolutely beautiful sunset!
A perfect ending celebrating another wonderful year together!
