baby boy: 6 months

Miles officially turned 6 months last week - where has the time gone?!  He certainly has made our family feel complete and like he has always been a part of it.  I love him so much it hurts sometime.  Yeah, I'm that mom...Miles - 6 monthsEatingI talked about starting him on solids yesterday, so I'm not going to go into much detail on that.  But, he's still my great little eater.  We are down to nursing 4 times a day, at 7AM, 11AM, 4PM, and 7PM.  He is eating 3 meals a day and seems to be doing well with them.  I can even update from yesterday's post and say that he absolutely LOVES avocado and banana.  Good choices, baby!Miles - 22 weeksSleepingMiles is still a great sleeper too, although we struggled a bit on vacation since his schedule was thrown completely off.  My goal during summer break was to get him on the same nap schedule as MacKenna - and so far, so good!  He takes one nap in the morning for about 30-60 minutes, and then a longer nap in the afternoon for about 2 hours.  He sleeps from 8PM until 7AM pretty consistently as well. Most of the time, he is awesome at going to sleep, but we have been struggling a little bit.  He fusses for a good 5 to 10 minutes before he really calms down and goes to sleep, both at naps and bedtime.  But, if he gets really upset, there is no way he will sleep unless you hold him.  There was one day where I couldn't get him to calm down, ended up putting him in his crib (I was going to go insane if I continued to listen to him scream) and he cried for 30 minutes straight, until I went back in and picked him up.  After 10 minutes of rocking him, he finally went to sleep - only to sleep for 30 minutes.  But, for the most part, getting him to sleep is not a big deal - he just wants to fight it as much as possible.  He's a nosy little guy!Miles - 23 weeksPersonalityHe is such a silly little guy!  He definitely is happy, although we went through a pretty tough leap and he has been fussier than usual.  He has been babbling a lot lately, and I have been working on him saying "mama" and "dada".  He is very easy going and is happiest being held but loves being on the floor, playing with toys.  He will laugh and smile at anything and it makes me so happy to see how much he adores all 3 of us.  He is mostly a Mama's Boy though and will cry if he sees me and I'm not holding him.Miles - 24 weeksBig SisterMacKenna still has been an awesome big sister to Miles.  However, I am the one who struggles the most with our relationship, as it has been difficult for me to balance my time and attention toward both kids.  I try to do my best to let her feel loved and worthy of my time, but sometimes I don't think I do a very good job.  That being said, she is still the silly, sassy, outspoken little girl she's always been, so I know I must be doing something right (or Matt is).  I have learned that I am MUCH better with babies than I am with toddlers (I don't do well with the whole pretend thing - unless we're pretending to put on makeup or do hair), but I think MacKenna and I are learning to adjust in our relationship, and for the first time since Miles was born, I feel like we are starting to understand each other so much better.  I have so much more to talk about regarding balancing both kids, but I haven't exactly figured it all out yet.  If I do, I will do my best to share, because I think it's important for other moms to understand that balancing your love, time, and attention is really hard when another baby comes along.Miles - 25 weeksOther StuffWeight:  12 pounds 15.5 ounces - down 3 ounces from his 4 month appointment.  I was guessing he was close to 15 pounds this appointment, so I was a little surprised when I saw the 12.  He is no longer on the charts, but is a pound heavier than MacKenna was at 6 months.Diapers:  Cloth diapers full time for the most part, but he wore size 2 disposables while we were on vacation - the 3s were still a little too big on him.Clothes:  Mostly 6 months clothes, but still fitting into some 3-6 month too.  I plan on moving him up to the 6-9 month clothes in the next month.  (Sidenote:  Kenna, however, went to bed last night in 12 month PJs... *sigh*)Likes:  Mama is his favorite by far now, with MacKenna in a close second; playing with his toys (this little Easter bath book is his favorite); blabbling; army crawling to find any cord he can find (time to baby proof the new house); Kenna singing "bedtime story" to him (which is just a song she made up)Dislikes:  long car rides; his carseat - especially on long car ridesFirsts:  He's up on all 4s and is ready to move for sure!  He has the army crawl down and is one determined little dude.  He also had his first beach trip and dip in the pool!Miles - 26 weeksI am doing my best to try and cherish every moment with my little guy.  I get a little depressed with every new milestone as it might be the last time I get to experience that with one of my babies.  Cutting back on breastfeeding and starting solids really had me feeling all the feels.  I'm not ready to let my little guy get older but I know we have so much more to look forward to!
