baby boy: 10 months
In less than 2 months, we will have a ONE year old. How is that even possible?! It's crazy to think he was even a tiny little baby at one point, but at the same time, I feel like this year has gone by so crazy fast. I have mixed feelings about Miles turning one in a few months, but I'm trying to soak up the last days of his infancy as much as possible.
It is getting harder and harder to get these pictures. He is just so active!
EatingMiles is still the best eater in town. I'm pretty sure he won't turn down anything we give him. He's got the pincer grasp down and is getting better at not just shoveling food into his mouth. Except cheese. Cheese gets shoveled. He recently had tomatoes and apple for the first time and loved them. There's just not much this kid won't eat. The one thing we are struggling with lately is getting him to drink out of a sippy cup. He just wants to chew on a spout or straw, so unless it's one he doesn't have to suck on, he drinks nothing. I'm trying to give him water either from a glass or spout sippy cup that just pours into his mouth at meals, but again, he just wants to chew on the cup. I guess I'll just keep trying until he gets it. (I hate comparing, but MacKenna had been using a straw for 2 months by this point...)We're still nursing, although we started supplementing last month, but for the most part, he is all breastmilk. I am still pumping 3 times a day when I work (and maybe once a day when I'm home - usually before I go run in the morning), but I will tell you that I am counting down the days until I no longer have to pump. I love nursing him, but I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sick of pumping.SleepingPoor little buddy just doesn't get as much sleep as he wants. With wanting to get a nursing session in the morning, I have to wake him up at 5:30. On days I work, if he doesn't fall asleep in the car on the way home from the babysitter, he falls asleep when I nurse him before bed. He certainly loves his sleep and will let you know if he is tired. He typically takes 2 longer naps every day. A morning one of 2-ish hours and an afternoon one of 2-ish hours. And thankfully our babysitter trained him well and all we have to do is lay him down in bed and he'll go to sleep with barely a fuss. LOVE it! He's such a good baby!PersonalityOh, he's a curious little fella. He's in to everything. And EVERYTHING goes in his mouth. He's also hilarious! You can just look at him and smile and he'll just start laughing like crazy. He wants to be included in everything, but is also very independent. He is perfectly content playing on his own, which I'm hoping is a good sign come toddler-hood. He is just such a happy, goofy little guy!Big SisterI love how much she loves him! She always wants to know what he's doing and is so concerned when he is not with the 3 of us. She gives him kisses before bed and wants to help him with everything. The other day, he got stuck when he was trying to explore her closet and she wanted to pick him up to help him. Thankfully, I was sitting right next to him to stop her, but it was still sweet of her. I'm hoping they will grow up being best buddies, but I think Kenna won't be as fond of him when he's really in to all of her stuff.Other StuffWeight: No doctor's appointment until his one year checkup in December, but I'm assuming he's broken 15 pounds now. He's just a little peanut boy.Diapers: Because he's a little thing, he's still in size 2 diapers, but cloth 99% of the time.Clothes: He's still growing in to the 6-9 month stuff, but is definitely too long for the 3-6 month.Teeth: We're up to 4 teeth now! I absolutely LOVE the gap between his top 2 teeth! I think it is so adorable!Likes: He loves sucking his thumb anytime he has a blanket or pillow of some sort, and has taken quite the liking to one of MacKenna's doll pillows. He is constantly blowing raspberries and finding anything in the house he can push or knock over. Lately, it's the plastic pumpkins we have sitting on the fireplace. Christmas will be fun...Dislikes: I spoke too soon last month - he HATES the carseat now more than ever, and physically fights us when we try to put him in. He also hates when he thinks you are done feeding him and he's still hungry. MOOSE!Firsts: Dancing, clapping (kind of - we're still working on it), doing "so big!" but not consistently yet, going to the pumpkin patch and apple picking - I'm really hoping he starts picking up some of the things he should be doing now, like waving and clapping - we are working on them but he's just content watching us do it for him!I wish I could stop time because I just love this age so much, but alas, I am excited to see what the next month has in store for my little Miles.
